Symbolic Exchange tackles approaching forms of interaction from a wide array of fields. Coined by French sociologist Jean Baudrillard as an “act of exchange and a social relation which puts an end to the real” articles on this blog emphasize an angle of reciprocity, a strange duality between forms and contents. To get you started, consider reading my introductory article “Baudrillard and Symbolic Exchange” or “define:symbolic“. Satirical texts will most likely appear in German, journalistic or academic interests are covered in English.

The videos from this site are also available through my Youtube channel. Currently, I am working at the Graduate School of North American Studies in Berlin with a research project on “Journalistic Practices and the Social Function of News Media”.
